Ari V. Alvergue L.Ac (they/them)
Hi! I'm Ari! I'm a California licensed acupuncturist born and raised on Ohlone land. I've spent nearly my entire life in the Bay Area and I'm passionate about supporting folks I'm in community with.
I firmly believe that taking care of eachother has a rippling effect and I strive to responsibly help folks find creative and holisitc approaches to their health wherever possible.
Prior to embarking on a career in acupuncture, I worked a patient-facing communication role with UCSF (the hospital I was born in!) during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic where I realized that I wanted to continue having a direct relationship with patients and become a practitioner of effective, accessible medicine. I started my acupuncture training at AIMC, Berkeley in 2023.
During my Master's program, I interned at UC Berkeley treating Cal student-athletes for orthopedic issues and pain management; and at the Homeless Prenatal Program in San Francisco, a free clinic serving low-income families with prenatal and postpartum healthcare. While still at AIMC, I co-organized free pop-up clinics focused on queer and trans wellness and climate-conscious health initiatives.
I was also lucky to study at the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center (CBIATC) - a WHO Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine in 2025.
I am currently seeing patients at Tendervine Health in North Berkeley, CA, a small Integrative Medicine clinic located up one flight of stairs and nearby AC Transit bus stops, as well as Medi-Cal patients, by referral only, at La Clínica de La Raza in East Oakland.
In my spare time I host and collaborate on care pop-up as Soothing Sharps Acupuncture.
- Masters of Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine - Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley
- Bachelor of Arts, Sociology with minors in Public Policy - University of California, Berkeley
now you know a little bit more about me, want me to know more about you?
I'd love to collaborate with other acupuncturists, herbalists, massage therapists, artists, educators, language workers & other changemakers on community events and creative projects. email me at ari@soothingsharps.com.
